Our Emphasis is on Personalization
"I am passionate about bringing art to life and making it speak to viewers!"
Lynn Meyers established Eyes on Art Tours to go beyond museum tours designed for a general audience. Eyes on Art Tours focuses on what makes art powerful and how a work of art appeals to each individual.
Led by art experts, our tours focus on the individual as much as on the art. This emphasis on service and personalization allows us to guide art selections that resonate for each client.
Integral to the conversational approach of our tours is sharing ideas and drawing out connections to discover an artist's vision, the artistic choices made to express that vision, and how the finished work affects the viewer's sensibility.
We also examine the relevant historical, social, political, and economic context of the work, including viewers’ perceptions of the work of art across time periods, as well as current influences that color 21st Century perspectives.
Ms. Meyers earned her masters degree from the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University, one of the foremost graduate art history programs in the nation, and gained certification as a teacher in Critical Thinking through Art from the National Gallery of Art. She consulted with New York Landmarks Conservancy on the restoration project for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. As an art appraiser for Nordstern Service International, Ltd., an international art insurance company, she traveled extensively to appraise museum and private collections. During that time, she identified a fake Edgar Degas painting, because it did not 'speak' to her in Degas' artistic vocabulary.
