Battling Tradition: Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Revolutions in France
Rejecting the traditional rules of the Academy and the Salon, the Impressionists battled for acceptance in eight exhibitions held between 1874 and 1886. This tour explores the language of Impressionism, reveals how scientific studies and inventions of the period affected their sensibilities, and shows how their new way of seeing opened the door to the Post-Impressionist movement and beyond.
